BRIEF BIO OF AUGUST AQUILA

For twenty-seven years August has advised leaders of professional services firms covering strategic, operational, marketing and leadership issues.
Accounting Today has described August as “one of the profession’s key strategic thinkers.” The AICPA has written, “August J. Aquila is one of the country’s leading consultants and authorities in the areas of profit improvement, new business development, strategic marketing planning, and management issues for CPA firms.”

Awards and Recognition

1993, won the Lawler Award for the best Journal of Accountancy article, “How to Lose Clients without Really Trying.

2003 the Accounting Marketing Association inducted August into their Hall of Fame.

2004 and 2007 Accounting Today selected him as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in The Accounting Profession.

1994 co-authored his first book on professional services firms, CPA Firm Merger Strategies That Work.

1995 wrote Breaking the Paradigm: New Approaches to Pricing Accounting Services (AICPA).

1996 co-authored CPAs That Sell: A Complete Guide to Promoting Your Professional Services.

1998 started Partner-to-Partner Advisory, a monthly newsletter published by Aspen Law & Business.

2003 created Partner Advantage Advisory, a monthly newsletter for CPA managing partners.

2003 co-authored The Power of Optimism: Insights to Personal & Professional Growth.

2004 co-authored Client at the Core: Marketing and Managing Today’s Professional Services Firm.

2007 co-authored Compensation as a Strategic Asset: The New Paradigm

Born in Chicago, IL, August holds an MBA from DePaul University (Chicago, IL) and a doctorate from the Indiana University (Bloomington, IL).
He began his teaching career at Williams College (Williamstown, MA), and then joined the DePaul University Graduate School of Business, where he served as an adjunct professor from 1980 until 1994.
